2 Hours A Week in Nature is key Dose for Health and Wellbeing | 2 Day Photography Workshop Singapore

According to Science News, research led by the University of Exeter in England, spending at least 2 hours a week in nature may be a crucial threshold for promoting health and well being. It has been a difficult year for many of us with lockdown and travel restriction due to the Covid-19 pandemic. Are you staying positive and healthy?

Since the start of the pandemic, I have postponed all my group photography workshops for the safety of participants. I only did private 1 on 1 workshop. I hope you all managed to stay positive and healthy. I miss the outing and travelling that we used to do especially spending time in nature and photographing wildlife. However, I managed to do a few things to stay positive this year.

  • Cleaning Up Photo Library and Having Virtual Tour:

There is no better time to clean up the images library that I have taken over the years. I managed to reduce my entire images by 30 % so far and I believe 50 % is about right. As I culled and sorted through my library, I managed to identify the birds that I have photographed but forgotten all about them and tagged them with the keyword in Adobe Lightroom. The keywords allowed me to recall all the images under the same name. The exercise made me feel like going on a virtual tour of my trips once again. Another important house keeping task I did was to back up all my image library into another drive even-though I have a 5 Bay Drobo Drive.
  • Writing Trip Report That I always Wanted to :

Looking back into all photos and trip journal allowed me to collate my trip write-up that I always wanted to write but had no time between trips. In the process, I have travelled back in time as I reconnected with friends who were on the trip. Although we did not physically meet this year, it was great to stay in touch via video call or Whatsapp. We all hope that we could be travelling again in the near future. You can read my trip report on my travel blog.
  • Spending Time In Nature 2 Hours A Week:

As we all cannot travel overseas, we spend more time exploring nature within Singapore. I am glad to hear the study indicating that “2 Hours A Week in Nature is key Dose for Health and Wellbeing“. I hope you can do the same to stay healthy and positive.
